TrueCoach alternative

Looking for a TrueCoach alternative?

Loadout was built to replace TrueCoach for coaches who programme in numbers. The session is stored as structured sets, reps, load and pace, so it can run on the athlete's watch, log itself and feed an AI that drafts and flags without deciding for you. Here is what you keep, what changes and how to move.

What you keep

  • Your athletes on a phone app (iPhone, Android and the web), messages with each of them and comments on every session.
  • Your own exercises, session and block templates, and your logo and accent colour in the athlete app.
  • Nutrition targets, habits and progress photos alongside the training.

What changes

  • You type the session the way you already write it and it is read into sets, reps, load, RPE, pace and rest as you type.
  • Athletes log a set in one tap, and cardio runs on their Garmin, through intervals.icu or on Apple Watch, then completes itself when the activity lands.
  • The AI drafts a whole block from a brief and proposes the next progression from what was logged; a morning briefing tells you who needs you, with a draft message each.

Side by side

The TrueCoach column is taken from TrueCoach's public website as of October 2026, prices in US dollars as listed there. Products and prices change; check the current version before deciding. For how the two compare in day to day use, see Loadout and TrueCoach, as we used it.

  • Writing a session

    Loadout
Type the session the way you write it. Each line is read into sets, reps, load, RPE, pace, distance and rest as you type; your words are kept and any field can be overridden.
    TrueCoach
Create, save and schedule custom workouts, with drag-and-drop formats from AMRAPs to strength sets.
  • AI

    Loadout
Drafts a whole block from a brief, suggests the next progression per exercise and writes a morning briefing. Nothing is applied or sent without you.
    TrueCoach
An AI Workout Builder that generates workouts from a client's goals, experience level and equipment.
  • Watches and wearables

    Loadout
Cardio pushed to Garmin and intervals.icu as structured workouts (intervals.icu forwards to Wahoo and Zwift) and scheduled on Apple Watch from the iPhone app. The activity completes the session when it lands.
    TrueCoach
Apple Health, Garmin, WHOOP and Oura integrations that sync tracker data into progress, on Standard and Pro.
  • Nutrition and habits

    Loadout
Macro targets per athlete, a meal log with barcode and food search, and habits measured as adherence, with no streaks or badges.
    TrueCoach
Meal plans, calorie goals and MyFitnessPal sync, with habit tracking.
  • Exercise videos

    Loadout
A catalogue of over 600 exercises with written instructions; athletes can upload form-check videos and you reply with voice or video.
    TrueCoach
A library of 3,000+ exercise videos, or upload your own.
  • Branding and payments

    Loadout
Your logo and accent colour in the athlete app on iPhone, Android and the web. Not built in for your own clients: keep the payment tool you use today.
    TrueCoach
A custom branded app on Standard and Pro. Automated client payments through Stripe in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
  • Free plan

    Loadout
Free for 2 active clients with every feature, no time limit and no card.
    TrueCoach
A 14-day free trial, no card. No free plan listed.
  • Price, as of October 2026

    Loadout
$49£39 a month including 5 active clients, then $5£4 per extra active client. Annual billing gives 2 months free.
    TrueCoach
Starter US$26.34 a month for up to 5 active clients, Standard US$57.99 for up to 20, Pro US$136.99 for up to 50. Annual billing saves one to two months.

Moving over from TrueCoach

Loadout is free for 2 active clients with every feature and no time limit, so you can try it on real athletes before you move anyone else. The importer is under Import in the coach dashboard.

  1. 01Start on the free plan with two athletes and run both tools side by side for a block.
  2. 02Export your client list from your current app as a CSV. The importer maps columns such as name, email, phone and notes, previews every row and sends the invites only when you confirm.
  3. 03Export or copy a programme into a CSV with one row per exercise (date or week and day, session name, exercise, prescription). Exercises are matched to the catalogue, anything unmatched is shown for you to fix, and each prescription is parsed into structure.
  4. 04Athletes who connect intervals.icu, Strava or Garmin can pull in their activity history, a year by default.

The full walkthrough is in how to move a roster to new coaching software without losing history.

Questions.

What is the best TrueCoach alternative for strength and conditioning coaches?

The one that matches how you programme. If you write numbers (percentages, RPE, intervals, paces) and want them stored as data that the watch, the log and your progress views can read, Loadout is built for that. If you rely on a large exercise video library or built-in client payments, TrueCoach offers those and Loadout does not.

Can I import my clients and programmes from TrueCoach?

Yes, through CSV. Export your client list and import it to send invites in one go: columns are mapped for you, every row is previewed, and nothing is sent until you confirm. Programmes come across as a CSV with one row per exercise, and each prescription is parsed into structure. Keep a copy of the logged history you need from TrueCoach before you close the account.

Is Loadout cheaper than TrueCoach?

For small rosters, yes: Loadout is free for 2 active clients, and above that $49£39 a month includes 5, then $5£4 per extra active client, with every feature on every plan. TrueCoach's plans as of October 2026 are in the table above; check its pricing page for current figures.

Do my athletes need a watch?

No. Strength sessions are logged in the app in one tap per set. A watch adds the cardio side: the session runs on it as a structured workout and the activity completes the session.

Is Loadout affiliated with TrueCoach?

No. TrueCoach is a trademark of its owner. Loadout is independent; this page reflects TrueCoach's public website as of October 2026.
